Hello

I am starting a weight lifting 118 Day weight loss goal tomorrow.

Weight sessions 3 times a week, cardio 3 sessions a week. (Yes every weight Session will end with 15 minutes of HIIT Cardio. (as a fat burning routine)

My question is: Due to weight lifting Protein is good for muscle growth, Muscle growth increases weight loss - etc...

Considering I have 17+ KG to lose, to get to my main goal weight before toneing, Do I buy my self a protein powder now, and start having it with/instead of my morning porridge?

Im just a little be confused, because Im trying to lose fat. So of these "Whey" powders increase weight, Im guessing that is due to Protein = Muscle growth = Weight gain, Correct/

Can anyone suggest a protein powder for me? Im trying to lose fat as a goal. Thanks

You can not gain muscle while losing weight.
If you are having trouble getting enough protein from food, whey protein is a great source to hit your macro goals. It is however not some magic potion that will build muscles for you.

And yes you should watch your macros if you want to retain lean body mass.

    Hello thanks for the reply.

I would just like to state that I understand you cannot gain muscle while loseing weight and that it is not some "magic" potion.

You are able however to have lean muscle while losing weight. Muscle can gain Strength while loseing weight. I'm saying when I hit my goal I want to gain weight, Will having protein shakes while loseing weight Help with my muscle mass on my calorie deficit diet.

When I hit goal weight I will then start with the muscle build.

There are plenty of great workouts for weight lifting.
My favourites are Jim Stoppani's Shortcut to SIze and Shortcut to Shred. He provides a full workout program as well as videos with tips for each workout and a full nutrition and supplementation plan.
    Here are the links, .

you can build muscle AND lose fat, just not as quickly as when bulking.
