Can high sodium intake lead to health issues?

I did a search on sodium on the forums but nothing came up that I was really looking for.

I am a very healthy and active individual (aside from the excess pounds that I'm trying to shed). I've noticed that my sodium intake has been way over what's recommended. Usually I end up over 3K daily. However, I hit my macros daily, which is what matters more to me.

Aside from water retention, will having a high sodium intake lead to health issues in the future? I've read that as long as you drink plenty of water, high sodium shouldn't really affect an otherwise healthy person. But how long does that threshold last?

If you go insane amount high.... but overall it's fine unless you have a medical issue with sodium intake.

I usually go 3-4k a day. Just drink water and it all flushes out anyhow.
