Success in Summer vs. Winter?

I'm just curious what the experiences out there have been....

Does anyone find it easier to lose weight in the summer or winter? Maybe there is no difference and it's simply about dedication, but I could see the summer being an easier time to get motivated to be outside and shed those pounds for all the fun summer activities. I'm hoping for my sake the answer is summer!

Opinions?

I always lose in the summer and gain in the winter. I get pretty bad seasonal affective disorder and I frequently forget to use my light box. It's only May and I'm already trying to plan ahead for winter so I don't feel so bad.

Someone once told me that our bodies store more fat on the winter -- a holdover from our cave dwelling days. It makes sense to me but I don't know how true that is.

I find myself wanting to be more active in spring and fall, actually, because in my area the weather is absolutely gorgeous during those seasons. Summer is ridiculously hot & humid much of the time, which puts a damper on my appetite but also makes me not want to do ANYTHING outdoors.

Winter is definitely the hardest for me. Partly due to holidays, but also the winter blahs when there's not a whole lot to do and I find that I'm more likely to seek out food as entertainment (a very bad habit) during the cold, icy days of January to March. It gets a lot easier for me to stick to healthier eating and an active routine when it's nice outside!

Soooo I'm a bit more active in the summer. The core of my activity workouts don't change but I'll go for more fun walks, bike rides, hikes, etc in addition to that. In the winter, I'm limited to Wii aside from time at the gym/working out.

However, aside from the winter holidays, I don't eat a lot. I do choose heartier comfort foods but make the healthier versions.

In the summer I see my friends and family a lot more for random gatherings in which we eat and drink. We have a lot more nights around teh campfire where we eat and drink. We go to a lot of Brewer games where we eat and drink......

It never changes for me :) While my activity increases slightly in the summer, so do my calories!

I am way more active in the summer, but with the nice weather also comes BBQ's and outdoor parties. There's always a lot of munchies and beer associated with those. In the winter, there's the long cold and dreary days where you just want to wrap up in a blanket and watch tv and eat. So, I guess for me it comes down to dedication and willpower, some times I have it and sometimes not, but as long as I'm losing it's all good. I'm not trying to lose it fast, I still want to eat out and drink, just be sensible about it, because this is the rest of my life.

I'm much more active and have more energy during the summer months. It's easier for me to stay on track when I have lots of sunshine.
During the winter I go into hibernation mode. I just want to laze about eating pizza, pasta, and baked goods. I didn't backslide too much, but I did kind of go off the rails there for a while. We're finally getting nice weather again and I'm feeling more energized and ready to get back on track.

I should live closer to the equator.

My only seasonal challenge is surviving all those typically food-heavy holidays that span most of winter... Other than that, I really don't see a difference for myself. I have gym access and a decent setup at home so I don't need good weather to get my exercise.

    I find both have pro's and con's

Winter pro easier to track, not going out as much but cons are a lot of holidays/birthdays

Summer pro easier to get outside and be active, more fresh veggies/fruits around more apt to choose a cool salad as opposed to roast beef and potatoes...con beer, bbq, parties, pools, vodka...need I go on.

I started last summer so I have been through all season's and I prefer doing it in the summer...I can choose different drinks (lower calories) and be more active to counter the extas.

I've found summer for me its 56468754 times better because I don't go out as much, and if I do, is rare and there's an occasional Ice cream, even tho its so hot I can barely breathe but its ok since I'm a night owl and rather work out in the nights
Winter is hard for me! (now is winter where I live) and I noticed I eat more and want to do nothing, plus i have to do a very good kind of long warm up before working out or else I end up injured :/
