This thing is crap!. I eat 2 apples and Im over my sugar goal for the whole day! That means no other sugars from any other foods.
Dont eat fruit people! That seem like a bad thing to tell people. I wouldnt say I eat alot of fruit but I try to eat 2 servings a day. I better not have a tsp of honey on my oatmeal or anything else the rest of the day.

big difference from natural sugars and processed. As for your daily amount, just go in and change it to what you think it should be.
As for me, I have to keep my blood sugar low.0 -
I agree the sugar thing is crap, they way I look at it, I'm eating fruit instead of all the crap I was eating so I'm justified.0

MOST people on here don't really watch their sugar 'goal' set by MFP. As long as you're not eating a ton of processed sugars, I wouldn't worry about it. Natural sugars (like from fruit) are FINE!! Just watch the processed sugars.0

I dont count the sugars from fruit and veg to any great extent.0

Yeah -- I don't watch the sugar rating on this. Of course, a lot of people here are diabetic and NEED to do so, so for them it is good this is included. I DO try to watch the sodium (and am ashamed to admit how often I go over--even though I never use a salt shaker!) because the blood pressure tends to be a tad high, and everything I read indicates we should all watch that. I also find that I always am over on protein and under on total carbs--frankly, I don't think that's a bad thing! I eat lots of fruits and vegetables--I try for 3 servings of fruit and 4 of vegetables every day, and sometimes manage to get even more. Like everything in life you need to tailor this for your needs.0

I actually have my food diary set where it displays carbs but not sugars on it because it bothers me. I've had Type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetes since I was 10 so I'm very aware of sugar but again I'll echo I think the general idea of the sugar max has to do more with processed than natural sugars.0

Full disclosure - I only ate one apple a 4 tsp of brown sugar on my oatmeal But if I had eaten 2 apples I still would have the same result which seems wrong.0

Yep, just about every day I'm over my sugar goal. It has made me more aware of how much sugar can be hiding in some foods that aren't even sweet. However, like others have said, if I go over because I have been eating fresh fruit or yogurt, I don't get too worried about it.
BTW-- Congrats on the 74 lbs. :drinker:0 -
I know I have 1 piece of fruit and I'm over my sugar. My blood sugar is hovering at the high end of the normal range. I come from a family of diabetics so I know that if this is why you are watching you sugar, natural sugars count too. (Still a piece of fruit is healthier than a candy bar but....)
The one thing I keep in mind is that while I might not be reaching the MFP goal for this yet. I'm still doing much better than when I wasn't tracking at all. So I acknowledge and give myself credit for this improvement, then bit by bit I'll try to reduce the amount I'm over by until I reach a truely healthy goal.
Although it does sound like I should do a bit of research to verify what would be a healthy amount for my height/gender/weight/family history/etc.0
