I'm 48, 5'3," and want to lose 50 more lbs. I'm netting 1350 and losing at a snail's pace, but I'm HUNGRY and I don't want to go below that. If I go up to 1500 I stop losing and maintain. Amazing how little wiggle room there is, really.

Also, seeds! Hemp seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds. Eat them by the handful, and even covered in dark chocolate.
By the handful? No offense intended, and I don't think that's the way you meant it, but that sounds a bit like bingeing. I'd be in trouble if I grabbed handfuls of anything.

How big are your hands?

I normally buy things in single-serving containers. My piano teacher used to tell me that I have long fingers, but I guess my palms are rather small in comparison. Yes, I eat nuts and seeds by the handful. I have no idea how else to do it. Grab a spoon and use it instead? Your remarks are confusing. .

ETA: Maybe you buy nuts in those huge containers at Costco?
    Wendy,

    Thanks for laughing.

A LOT of nuts can fit in my hand, and my hands are pretty small. I use a food scale and weigh the portion out. I have to do this because my eyeballs are bigger than my a single serving (or two servings if that's what I want).

Oh, and I do buy bulk nuts. Not at Costco, but Whole Foods.

I'm not sure what the connection between height and calories is. I'm 5'3" and 208 (down from 236). The number of calories MFP wants me to eat is probably the same as the number of calories a guy who's 6'3" and needs to lose a little bit of weight.

Because if you're smaller your body needs fewer calories to function.

I'm 5'0, 151 and try to net 1500. Usually I end up eating between 1500-1900.

Looking at your profile, you don't seem to have *that* much to lose, but you have a high body fat percentage. I'd look into losing weight slowly with a focus on body recomposition. As a vegetarian trying to eat 1200 calories with no dairy, I'd wager your protein numbers are fairly low (I could be wrong!). Try to get 1 gram of protein per 1 lb of lean body mass (I aim to hit at least 100g protein per day), and incorporate some resistance training into your routine.

Usually, I get the $1 packs of Planters nuts at the convenience store. Or if cashews, I get the $2 package of 2.5 servings. I can fit about 1/4 serving of peanuts in my palm without dropping any, so four handfuls makes one serving for me.

Sometimes, I get the generic brand at the Dollar General Store. But either way, it takes me several handfuls to reach a single serving, and I don't always stick to just one serving.

5'1 107lbs, 1500ish on rest days(my bmr is 1187, I had this tested at my gym), 1700-2000 on days I work out. This is to maintain. When losing I do 1500 without eating back my work out calories.

Well I mean, how many calories a person burns in a day is based on multiple factors. Bottom line is, if the baseline is sedentary, no a 4'8 woman would not burn as many calories as your average 6'0 man.

Hello! Friends, I am consuming 1800 calories per day. And also I am taking some tea regarding for weight loss, such as Green tea, loose leaf tea, black tea etc. I am very happy after using these kind of teas. And I got the many benefits regarding my weight. It provides me freshness and make my life stress free. The main thing with these teas are they reduce your weight and provide you a well maintain body shape.

Do you feel good? Do you have enough energy to do the exercise?

If so, then keep doing what you're doing.

"Listen to your body" is such a cliche, but it is still good advice. If your body says it's happy, then you're doing OK.

(Oh and since you asked, I'm 5'2" and 1200 calories is a good weight loss intake for me. I get a little hungry but not too bad as long as I eat a lot of protein and low carbs. I could easily eat more, though. I am losing about a pound a week.)

I average about 1000 to 1200 per day, rarely will I go over. I also workout 5-6 days a week for about 60-90 minutes. I never feel hungry throughout the day, but when I get the feeling I eat either my meal or my snack that I plan out. If you are not getting the hungry feeling don't worry about it, make sure you are eating healthy. And trying to be as close to your minimums as possible.

Yup, if this were true, myself :drinker: and the majority of the UK population would be svelte and I'm darned if that's the case

I'm just under 5ft and eat 1300 at the moment (and eat back exercise cals), I'm starting to maintain but am upping my cals slowly to find my maintenance figure. I think as u are a dairy avoiding veggie a lot of ur preferences are likely to be naturally low calorie. I don't think 1200 is a lot for people on a standard meat, veg and dairy style diet but I can see how u may have difficulties meeting ur goals. Have a look at some calorie dense foods such as nuts and olive oils etc, it may help u reach ur goals without feeling overwhelmed.

165cm 2300ish on a bulk 1700ish on a cut 2000 is about maintenance but these numbers obviously shift if I can't get to the gym as much as I like. BMR is 1470. Not looking forward to the next cut.
