Hi everyone!
Do you work out even on days that you're sick?
I got sick about a week ago and I'm almost fully recovered (I needed Z-Pac to stop feeling so awful.) I took a day off from work. But I still haven't started working out again (I was working out once day.)
What is your criteria for not working out, regarding illness? I feel guilty not working out but I thought getting rest was important.

Thanks,

Pete

Usually when I am sick I take days off of working out/running. Your body is telling you something is wrong so would rather rest than exasperate the situation. Plus, if you keep at it you may see the illness stick around longer.

    I'm sick right now too!

I am not working out -- at all. In fact, according to my Fitbit, I have taken less than 700 steps all day long. :-( It makes me super sad, but it hurts my throat to even breathe and so I know that it will just do me more harm than good to be working out.

I'm thinking about doing some light strength exercises, though -- in part to make up for the fact that I'm not getting any cardio in, and in part because I just feel so awful that I think it would make me feel better to work some muscles instead of being in bed all day.

    Feel better!

I recently took a week off from the gym and stuck to just walking in the evenings to keep from being sedentary with an upper respiratory infection. I would much rather take some time off, get well then hit it again hard than be out of commission and feeling sub par for a moment longer than necessary.

Rest and recovery go hand-in-hand. Whether you're recovering from a workout out or an illness, not taking adequate time will delay or deplete your recovery and progress.

If I'm sick below the neck, I won't work out anymore. It earned me 8 weeks of bronchitis and a daily corticosteroid inhaler by not following doctor's orders.

I've been really sick for the past week, and I have just been taking it easy. I know when my body needs a break.

ETA: What the eff is a z-pac?

a couple weeks ago I was sick for five days and worked out for two of the five days - I woke up feeling okay and did my workout then by afternoon was not well again

guess it depends on how bad you really feel? if you don't think you can do anything - don't - if you think you can do a bit - do a bit

lol.. im sick now and im getting orders to rest from every direction.. its cold, fever, congestion.. it hurts when i cough. im actually going to lay down now, but seen this post. i want to throw my kettle bell around so much i can taste it, but i have just been getting in light walks.. resting my body so i can come back kicking *kitten* and taking names.

i am 30 some pounds from goal the last leg.. this is killing me. i exercise 6 days a week.. its how i released the first of my weight, but i know sometimes your body needs rest.. besides my friends on here would kick my *kitten* if i threw my bell around right now...lol

zpack is a antibiotic called zithromax. its fast acting when you have infections commonly bronchitis, respiratory and more..

tiptoes out to bed before i get yelled at for not resting .. lol
