Spice? Nice!!

I've found (for me at any rate) that a spicy/strong flavoured meal is far more satisfying than a plain meal, even if the calorific count is considerably lower. Has anyone else experienced this?
My absolute favourites:
Smoked mackerel salad
hot vegetable chili (made with onion, sweet potato and green beans)
Any vegetable curry
chicken Tandoori with a side of raw onion, chopped tomato and cilantro
Fish baked with Ras al Hanout
Heavy peppered steak
Even a roast Sunday lunch which I love does not have the same satisfaction value of any of the above.
Anyone else come in on this?
