Heard great things about MFP

I'm 29 year old newlywed. I dropped 20 pounds fall 2012 due to a very active job and kept it off for 9 months then I got married, didn't eat well on the honeymoon and have since October gained the 20 pounds back. I've noticed I have gained a lot in my belly instead of hips/butt like normal. I guess it's due to aging and changing metabolism.

My fitness goals are simple:
Lose 30 pounds although I need to lose 50, I'm starting simple so as to not get discouraged.
I want to be able to do push ups. Even as a little kid I couldn't do them and I was average weight.

I'm a little confused about exercise. I see all these guides about weightlifting. I don't want to be muscular, I'm not aiming for a 6 pack. There is a small fitness center at my apartment complex that I have started using. My husband doesn't want to exercise with me; he would rather make diet changes and lose weight (which has worked for him in the past). Diet only changes never work for me, I must exercise if I want to lose weight.

Welcome! Congrats on getting married. I understand where you're coming from as far as making diet only changes. That just doesn't work for me anymore unfortunately. MFP is great tool to help you on your weight loss jouney. Making friends on here is another good way to keep you accountable and motivated. Also you will get to see what is working for others. I am still on my journey and I sent you a friend request so we can help support each other. Anyone feel free to add me!
