Green Tea

I've been told that green tea is great for a lot of things, the two that caught my attention most was weight loss and cholesterol.
I am trying to lose a significant amount of weight, so any little boosters to help me would be great.
And I also am only 21 and have inherited my fathers very very very high cholesterol.

Any advice? Or tips on if this is true or not?

Or how many cups per day? Or the best kind of green tea?

THANKS

I drink 1-2 cups of green tea pretty much daily, it hasn't done anything to my weight. I drink it because it's delicious  Unfortunately I don't know if it has any effect on cholesterol.

I personally like Twinings Jasmine Green Tea.

I drink green tea made of matcha green tea powder. It's a good source of chlorophyll, fiber, and amino acids. I think the cholesterol benefit likely has to do with fiber so I don't think it will help if you get tea bags instead of the powder.

That being said, it has a very strong flavor to get used to and it's kind of expensive (about $20-$25 for 500g or 250 cups). So I don't recommend it if it's not something you can enjoy in general. Imagine the stuff you get at some Japanese restaurants, only 4-5 times stronger. I don't think you should drink it expecting a huge boost in whatever you're currently doing. There are other ways to get in extra fiber or whatever.

It's something I enjoy to start my mornings. It gives me energy without the jittery feeling I get when I drink coffee on an empty stomach; I find it a calming part of my routine (one of the few asian things I still do other than eat rice).
