Hello everyone, I have just finished week 1 of p90x and I am wondering if I am eating right
I am 5"6 190 pounds
For breakfast 2 eggs and a cup of fresh milk
For lunch white rice and ( chicken-meat-fish)
Then i do my workout
I drink 500 ml of milk after exercise ( for protein) and an apple
For dinner soup ( vegs or chicken)
If I am not hungry I skipp dinner and just have an apple
Any help well be appreciated
Thanks in advanced

How many calories are you eating? This could vary hugely depending on your portion sizes of some of the above, but it looks to me like too little food.0

I think you could eat more than that being a male.0

kinda looks like your undereating, but hard to tell without exact amounts of the food.
its really not hard to eat how they tell you.
just set your MFP to the number of calories that it recommends based on the calculation in the nutrition guide
then make sure that your macro nutrients are close to what they recommend for the 3 different phases (not necessary but worth trying the first time).
it helps to sit down and log the food you are planning to have early in the day. then you can make changes if necessary0 -
Type of food is important; but quantities are just as important.
Depending on the intensity of the workout, at first glance, I'd say probably not enough calories...but then again it could be you're eating 3 cups of rice, 4 chicken breasts, and 2 gallons of soup.0 -
I am 5'4". female, 130 pounds, and 38 years old. When I do P90X I eat an absolute minimum of 2,000 calories on workout days, but usually get closer to 2,500. On rest days (no exercise at all) I shoot for 1,700.
I didn't estimate your calories, but it looks pretty low for your stats. P90X comes with a guide book that lays out exactly how many calories you should be getting. Did you read it?0 -
type of food my not be important but you will want to get an adaquet supply of protien and carbs0

True - poorly worded on my part. I edited my post to more clearly represent what I meant0 -
Thanks for the quick reply

About the soup it's not much
I think am eating too little but I don't feel hungry so what else can I eat0 -

That doesn't sound like nearly enough food to me especially if you are following an intensive workout program. How many calories is that?
My memory of P90x is generally they recommend an intake of 2,400 calories. If you are following their program why are you ignoring the diet advice?0 -

i seems like your not eating enough honestly
keep with the program and you are likely to experience more hunger
do yourself a favor and get at least .75 grams of protien per lbs body wieght. so for you thats like 142 grams.
as long as you hit that protien goal, its helping you minimize the muscle loss thats going to come at eating from a defecit.0 -
I know but they are asking me to eat a lot and I just don't know what else should I eat
2400 calories is a lot of food
And I want to loos weight so I don't want to eat when I feel full
By the way I red the guide and I didn't get it realy
I mean i don't eat half of the food in the guide0 -

Too bad if you don't feel hungry. You are hardly eating anything at all and you want to start an intense workout regimen? Not going to happen. What else can you eat? ANYTHING! More food is all that matters.
I logged the foods you listed and got less than 1200 calories. Of course, that may be more or less than what you're actually eating since I didn't count any cooking oil/butter, etc. and I don't know what type of milk (I used whole) or soup (I used a homemade chicken noddle soup entry). However, small differences aside, that's probably about half of what you should actually be eating. What is this skipping dinner and eating an apple? I also got only 73 g of protein - too low.
Boy, you need to eat. A man should NEVER go below 1600 calories per day, and that's if he's sedentary. Fuel your body, regardless of hunger.0 -

You will lose weight as a man doing P90X on 2400 calories a day. A significant amount of weight if you are at all overweight in fact.
If you eat what you are suggesting there is NO WAY in hell you are going to be able to complete those workouts and recover in time for the next one.
If you want to follow there particular diet you just have to hit the macros they suggest which if I remember starts at 50% protein 30% carb 20% fat. Still need that 2400 calories though, but it can come from whatever not their specific meal plan.

You don't need to eat "healthy" food you just need to eat ~2400 calories and hit your macros. Go have a hamburger, you can probably fit that in pretty easily.
Now that said if you really want to know how much to eat you can get a rough estimate with an online calculator to calculate your NEAT (non-exercise thermogenesis) caloric need per day and just slap something like 500 calories on top of that for the P90X workouts.
I can do it for you really quickly if you tell me your gender, age, height and weight.
If it makes you feel better I'm a 6' tall 180 pound guy currently losing a little over a pound per week eating on average 2100 calories per day while doing P90 (which is a wuss version of P90X). If I did P90X I'd probably bump that up to about 2300-2400 and continue to lose over a pound a week.0
