Have you ever went over your calorie goal? Cheat day? Over ate? Wasn't paying attention? What happened to cause you to go over, and how did you react? What did you do the next day to make sure it wouldn't happen again?

I blew up.0

Went over today, knew I was going to go over prior to having dinner and dessert, enjoyed every bite of it... logged it and moved on. Oh and took pictures of all the deliciousness!0

Usually happens once a week. Honestly since MFP builds in a deficit, going over occasionally won't kill your goals. Just recover the next day. If you're WAAY over (say 1000 calories or more) then you want to take stock of what you did wrong and try not to do it again (at least that same week)0

Zero reaction....this is a lifestyle change and things happen. Your body fat does not tell time in 24 increments, it's about the overall picture. Now binging over goal, I have no idea because I do not suffer from that condition. The next day is a new day, I also pay more attention to my week goal.0

This is the path to the dark side.0

I turned purple and starting singing La Marseillaise backwards.0

A little too often lately. Not crazy over mind you, but...Tommorow's a new day0

pfft - weekly at least0

Just once, and I'm still paying for it 54 years later.0

About 1-2 times a week. Sometimes it is due to a cheat day. Mostly it is because I get lazy with logging, these usually stay within 300 calories of my goal. I don't focus too much on those sort of days..just keep on going and stay to my plan and goals.0

Treat the next day as a new day.

Yep0

I went over once, on Easter, by like 200 calories. Hasn't happened again since.0

You remember the blueberry scene in the original Willy Wonka? It was kinda like that.0
-
Of course! I was hungry. I eat when I'm hungry - some days I'm hungrier than others. I figure that's my body telling me it needs food. Some days I'm under because I'm less hungry. No big deal.0
-
Oh, heavens, yes. But look, if my goal is still 500 or 1000 below what I estimate I'm burning, I'm still on the losing side. Next day, I may come in 100 calories under. It's all good (as long as I don't go over much).0

Yeah, if I'm hungry. If I'm not, I don't. Either way I'm still in a deficit from my maintenance calories, so why stress about it?0
-
All the time, no big deal.0
-
I don't stress about but I make sure I log every calorie. Sometimes seeing how many calories I consumed motivates me not to do it again.0
-
Hope this help ease the minds of people stressing over the limit.
Your calorie goal is a range, not a line.
You only have to eat below that line to lose around what you entered in your goal loss.
If, for example, you have a daily calorie goal of 1500 and have set your goal loss for 2 pounds per week, then your calorie range would be between your calorie goal and your maintenance. The range would be 1500-2500, in this case.
Note: Eating more calories can show an increase on the scale.
Stop the negativity.
Stop obsessing.
Stop going hungry.
Enjoy your life and new lifestyle.0 -
A few times but never by a giant amount0

It happens, sometimes planned (special occasions) sometimes not. I'm in it for the long haul, so I just try to get back on track the next day.0

Several times. I knew they would be higher. I ate the yummy foods and then moved on with my life. As long as I'm in a deficit for the rest of the week, I'm fine.0
-
Yes, of course. I think it would be safe to say everyone does once in a while.0

My caloric deficit as per MFP is quite big compared to any calculations I've made using many different methods to find out my bmr and tdr. All have directed I need between 2000-2200 calories per day. Some days I'm more active than others, so I try and look at my week as a whole. I use MFP as rough guideline. If I wanted to lose the weight quickly I'd be more concerned with staying at or under my calorie goal every day, but since I'm more concerned over long term sustainability, and being happy day to day and not feeling drained or tired, I just aim for in and around my calorie goal, give or take 200-300 calories. I always exercise though, so I don't beat myself up over it. I have had 2-3 days in the last two months where I went and ate 3000 calories, but then I worked extra hard at the gym the next day and ate significantly less.0

I did once.0

It's not the amount of calories you should worry about if you go over. It's what's in those calories you should be concerned about (sugar, bad carbs such as flour-based foods, bad fats). If you are consuming enough protein during the day, as long as it's lean protein, you will be fine.0
-
yup, happens. You move on.
Conversely, sometimes I am way under (1,000+ cal) on a day when I ride out lots. Still losing slowly but gradually (I don't have lots to lose, so it's reasonable right now).0 -
You'd be hard pressed to find someone that hasn't on occasion. The trick is to call it a cheat day, and get right back on the wagon like it never happened.0
