I was told to lay off the sodium. I try but it is hard. But i drink way more than 8 glasses of water a day. I am always drinking water. I am constantly heading to the bathroom to releive myself. I am always hydrated. But will drinking all this water help flush out the sodium in my body?

I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and a long family history of heart disease. Since I can't take statins to help lower my cholesterol until after I have children, I have cut out adding salt to my dinners and have found that it's not so bad. You can use Mrs. Dash seasonings to help flavor most meals (not all things as it doesn't compliment all foods). But if you're told to lay off the sodium and you're already drinking this much water, my guess is whoever said to lay off is saying you need to reduce your intake although I'm sure the amount of water your chugging is helping!0

If you are eating more than 2500 mg of sodium daily, 8 glasses of water cant help flush out your system from all that sodium. Try and not cook with salt, and cut out processed meals.0

Wow man! Sorry to say, but your sodium intake is way out there!
I don't think any amount of water is going to flush out those huge amounts of sodium.
1,660 for a McDonald's sausage McMuffin? Call that McSodium!
The fast foods and processed cans of beans, meat etc. are just overloaded with salt.
It's really best to cook your own fresh food as often as possible and add flavorful spices instead of salt.
Best of luck! :flowerforyou:0 -
I have a REALLY hard time cutting out sodium, unless i just have have super low calorie days...Like today. I'm under my sodium, but I'm also like 300 calories short for the day...plus today just happened to eat bet better too, but not ideal. If I ate like this everyday, I don't think I would stay on the wagon. (I like salad, but not everyday, all the time). It just seems like sodium is in everything, even if you don't salt your foods, practically everything you buy ends up having stupid salt in it.0

U r right. There is sodium in everything. That's what makes it so hard. Also, I don't always go over my sodium.0
