Hi,

I'm planning to start walking to work, which would take 1hour & 50 minutes but I figure I would prefer to walk & burn some calories rather than being stuck in traffic or catching the bus. If I didn't do the walking it would probably take me 30-40 minutes to get to work and i guess I could spend the rest of the time exercising at home.

Just wondering if anyone's lost weight with walking? Also should I do the walk or just drive/bus & spend the rest of the time working out at home.

I did the walk this morning and have newly forming blisters on my feet as a badge of honor.

As long as it is age, I would get some decent sneakers with good support (leave shoes at work) and start walking.

One of things that helped me a couple of years ago was to eat my heavy meal at lunch time; then I would walk home in the evenings (and have something light when I get home).

Yes, combined with healthy eating you can lose weight with walking. I did at first but then my body "needed" more. After about four months, I had to incorporate strength training along with cardio.

I think walking is great, but don't try to do to much to soon. Is it possible for you to walk part of the way and catch a bus? I would think this would be better for you to start with so you don't hurt yourself.

Thanks for the feedback guys! :). Yes I could walk part of the way and take the bus. I will try to continue the walking next week & see how I go.

It's mainly the feet feels like it's getting blisters, I wonder if that will go away? Apparently there is method to walking for losing weight too: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2326637/Walk-way--lose-10lb-weeks-How-simply-putting-foot-beat-bulge.html

I'm going to try it out :)
