Can someone with Polar ft7 Experience help me out? :)

Hi! I bought an ft7 polar heart monitor with the body strap and watch about 2 years ago. I had a long period of not using it due to illness but when I got it out a few weeks ago it was working fine. Now all of a sudden it has stopped. Replaced the battery in the watch which is working and also put a new battery into the sensor that snaps onto the body strap but it now will not connect to the watch at all even with a new battery in it. I read online somewhere that you have to wash the body strap every five uses. I have never washed it before. Do I put it in the washing machine or wash it by hand? Could this actually be the problem? Also, I have read they are under warranty does anyone know for how long? I can't find the book that came with the monitor although I know it must be around here somewhere. Any advice as to how to get this heart monitor working again would be much appreciated. It cost too much money to lose it and I love that you can swim with it. Now that I am finally healthy again I really need to start working out and using it again. Thanks so much for your time and responses. Kellie
