Hi all. I am a 28 year old mother of 5! I have been gaining weight since ten years ago and thought "enough is enough". I have gained from various reasons: eating too much, not exercising enough, having babies, and medications. In 1999, before I got pregnant with my oldest child, I weighed 140 pounds (I am 5'1'') and was very happy. During my pregnancy I gained almost 60 pounds and only lost 27 of it. In 2003 I gained about 40 pounds from being pregnant and only lost about 15. Then, in 2004 I was put on medications for my bi-polar disorder and in 4 months time, gained 60 pounds! Needless to say, we changed my medications. I also had gained 20 more pounds that year because I was pregnant with my 3rd child! I lost absolutely none of that baby weight! Now, in the last 10 years I have yo-yo dieted with exercise, diet and OTC pills. So as of Oct. 14th (I believe) I logged in at this site weighing my highest ever weight of 287! I couldn't believe it when my doctor uttered those numbers. I called a weight loss doctor and got put on a low-carb, high-protein diet. They also prescribed me a weight loss pill and shot. I am going to give it my best this time. Anyone who wants to friend me, go ahead, I could use all the help I can get.

Welcome. I have been on MFP for 3 months, starting my 4th. It's the best decision I have made in many years. I have lost weight with diets many times before, but it was never a lifestyle change. This time is different; it's a lifestyle change, not a diet. Good luck on your weight loss journey. Please feel free to add me as a friend; we can help motivate each other.
