To everyone that is doing p90x do you follow their nutrition plan and do everything it states on their worksheets? or do you just do the exercises based on their calendar and just use MFP?
Have done both? maybe at first used MFP and now doing their nutrition plan
Any input would be appreciated.

I hope some people answer, I eventually want to start P90x, but I don't plan on using their nutrition plan, and just sticking with MFP, but I'm worried that will completely throw off the results.0

I have done P90X both with their nutrition plan and without. I can honestly say that I had better results following what they call the Portion Plan Approach than anything else. With the portion plan, they don't have you count specific calories, but rather, you measure and weigh the foods into specific portion sizes. They have guides that tell you how much of what is a portion. Then you just eat the right amounts of portion of stuff throughout the day picking your own foods to eat. I personally found it easy to follow, and I lost a lot of weight doing it that way.
On the other hand, after I finished P90X I was no longer doing the portion plan and I gained some weight back. Therefore, even though the results might be slower, I think you can just follow what you are doing on MFP and be safe. The only thing you have to watch out for is getting the right amount of calories. Don't think you can eat 1500 or less calories and get results on P90X. It is too strenuous for that and you will go into starvation mode. However, for me, MFP has me at 1280 calories and after adding the 500 or so calories from exercise back, it brings me to close to the 1800 mark which is what P90X tells me to eat anyway.
So to sum it up, If you don't want to do the phases of the P90X nutrition plan, you don't have to. However, I feel like it is very important to watch your calorie totals no matter which way you do it. Most people who have very little success on P90X are the ones that are not eating enough of the right kinds of foods.
Good luck, P90X is an awesome program that will get you in shape quick!!!0 -
