Can I start the 5K training in the middle?

I would like to run a 5K. Since I am able to run for about 15 minutes at a 6mph pace, can I start the training beginning at week 5?
Week 5 begins with - 1/2 mile run, 1/4 mile walk, 1/2 mile run, 1/4 mile walk and 1/2 mile run

I don't see why not. I started my 1/2 training 8 weeks into the training program and did just fine.0
