Having trouble shaking off the weight from quitting smoking?

So I just finished my first year of college (yay!) During the year, I quit smoking and I think that's where a large portion of the weight I've gained came from because my appetite wasn't suppressed. I'm proud of myself for quitting, of course. However, I'm having trouble shaking that off. I went into college at 197, got down to 191 twice (when I smoked) and now I'm sitting at 204 (post-smoking-I quit in December). I also got a boyfriend when I quit smoking, haha, so I'd eat with him. I know the concept is the same as when I was 191; eat less than you consume and work out. I lift a lot of weights and I don't focus on the scale all that much but it still irks me that I can't shake the weight off. I think I need to do a mental re-evaluation. Any help?

I've also been losing the weight I gained when I quit smoking. You clearly know the theory and just have to put it into practice. Set yourself small goals and build up from there - like logging everything you eat on weekdays or cutting out snacks and replacing them with fruit or raw veg. You obviously have the will power you may just need focus.

I think I just get discouraged. I have some summer goals I want to accomplish like training for sports so maybe that I help me? Any tips of getting my "focus" back?

losing weight is about a calorie deficet. If you aren't losing but gaining you are at a surplus.

Track accurately, log everything accurately by weighing solids and measuring liquids...choose the correct entries from the database.

That's it...regardless of the fact you quit smoking (Yah to you btw) weight loss principals are the same.

Seeing the numbers dropping down is the best motivation there is. Steel yourself to put 110% effort into a lifestyle change for just two weeks and I bet the results will motivate you to continue. Weigh yourself and take all your measurements beforehand, then eat at a deficit for two weeks. You CAN lose the weight and improve your life even further.
