Is losing 15 lbs in a month unsafe/unhealthy?

I'm currently having a competition with my boyfriend and the goal is to lose 15 lbs by the second week of june. After entering my goals into mfp, it says that by that time i should lose only 6 lbs! :( Then i started to wonder if 15 lbs is an unsafe amount to try to lose within that time frame.

I really think the only time that's remotely possible and close to healthy is if you're morbidly obese and you, pretty lady, definitely don't seem to be that! I don't think that's a competition you should try to take on.

Incredibly. Basically you are looking at a 1,750 calorie deficit a day. That is so horrifyingly dangerous. 1 pound a week would be 500 deficit a day.

Do keep in mind that a lot of weight loss can and usually is, water weight; which can fluctuate greatly due to diet and exercise.

Unhealthy based on your profile pick. I lost 9 pounds the first week of me dieting and exercising, but I'm extremely over weight and had a lot of water weigh to lose. From your pic I'm going to say 15 pounds is too extreme.

Yeah, i was beginning to think so. Thanks for the replys everyone, you've been very helpful! Now time to let the boyfriend know so we can lower that number to something not so harmful!

Or you could extend the time - 5 pounds a month gets you a 2 out of 3 competition, 3 lbs = 3 of 5, and you probably could think up some good rewards for winning each inning.

Of course and in reality you will be losing more muscle mass than fat, which then will make you look skinny fat.
