So my mother...where shall I start?

I told her I'd lost some weight finally...and her reaction was (paraphrased) to stop eating like a pig and try to be like my grandmother. That she stayed a waif all her life and always looked beautiful, and all I had to do was try harder.

My grandmother ate one 2-egg omelette a day with one slice of cheese. that's it. The rest of the day she'd have black coffee, a couple of beers, 4-5 rum on the rocks and smoked about a pack a day of Malboros.

And yes, mom also meant to start smoking, too.

*insert smiley banging its head against a wall over and over again*

Gotta love my mom!

    Sounds like a great diet! Funny i quit smoking and gained about 20 lbs in 2 months. :happy:

    Welcome. I have been on MFP for 3 months, starting my 4th. It's the best decision I have made in many years. I have lost weight with diets many times before, but it was never a lifestyle change. This time is different; it's a lifestyle change, not a diet. Good luck on your weight loss journey. Please feel free to add me as a friend; we can help motivate each other.
