Body Fortress and other protein questions

Hi! So I purchased Body Fortress whey protein recently and I have been having 3/4 of a scoop with a glass of skim milk every morning. So far I have noticed that my hunger pangs at night have reduced considerably. Today I ate almost 74 grams of protein and 1300 calories. I am 5'7 and 150 pounds. Is 70g a lot? I heard we are supposed to take 1 g per lean body mass in pounds. Are my facts right?
Also, it says that Body Fortress shouldn't be used for weight loss. Does that mean it shouldn't be used as a meal replacement because it can't offer much in terms of nutrients? Because I thought weight loss had to just to with a deficit and not with some kind of food in particular.
Thanks in advance!! ::)

At 5'7" and 150 you are already a healthy weight, and should only be aiming to lose 0.5 lb per week. 1300 cals is very low for your height/weight.
Your protein shake is a protein supplement, not a meal replacement.
On just 1300 calories, it will be difficult to get all the micronutrients you need if you are having protein shakes in place of meals.0 -
Oh! Thanks, but Im not really having all protein shakes. Here is what my typical diet looks like.
1 serving of Skim milk+ 3/4 scoop whey for breakfast
2 cups veggies (broccoli, mushrooms, kale/spinach, carrots, onions) + 1/2 cup beans/soy for lunch with a whole wheat tortilla
Dinner is usually similar to lunch, except I eat an egg for protein.
My snacks are usually one helping of string cheese (80 calories) or one serving of fruit (60-80 calories)0 -
What you're eating looks fine, but you could be eating a lot more while still losing fat.0

70g protein isn't that much at all really and looking that you're on 1300 cals at 150 lbs you're probably in a big deficit, if you're gonna do big deficits you need to up your protein to preserve muscle, you can use whatever food you want for weight loss, it all comes down to the calorie deficit, a lot of people don't use shakes when dieting because it's less satiating than real food0

This.
I'm only 5'2 and 155 lbs, and I eat 1700 calories. You could definitely stand to eat more and you will still lose weight, just make sure you're weighing all of your food and logging it accurately. Also incorporate some variety. You can eat pretty much anything you want, just work it into your calorie intake. As for protein, I usually aim for 100+g.0 -
Thanks! I didn't know 70 gram protein isn't a lot. I was under the impression that it was adequate for my needs. How much should I be eating then?0

I always shoot for my MFP protein goal and surpassing it. So if my base goal is 75g, I try and make sure I'm always over it. Usually I tend to be at the 100+g amount.
I think they say .5-1g per lb of body weight is normal.
So if you're 150, you should shoot for 75g as a minimum, but really try to get it closer to the 1g/lb.0
