Hi, start out by filling in all the stuff under My Home (profile, goals, activity level etc.). Don't set your goal too high. Then just ease into it by logging everything you eat (use a food scale) and trying to match the numbers at the bottom of the food page as well as possible. You'll be on your way.
    Good luck!
P.S. Walking is good; make sure you have decent shoes and don't overdo it in the beginning.

Hi! I am also from NH :) Take a peek around the boards, there is lots of good information there. Also, as a PP said, fill out your info, set a calorie goal, log your food- weigh everything (besides liquids, measure those).
Good luck! feel free to friend me as well, I log daily!

I'm pescatarian which means a vegetarian that eats seafood. I eat seafood everyday and my cholesterol is great! Salmon is an excellent source of Omega 3's and good fats. Shellfish unfortunately is not. If you know what fish to eat it's more beneficial to you than a lot of meat.

Did your doctor advise on no seafood? Just wondering is all.

When I was 18 my doctor did a blood test and came back saying I had high cholesterol. I thought it odd. She tried to put me on a low cholesterol diet and gave me a packet on what I could eat and not eat. Came to find out that I never had high cholesterol. She did the blood test after I had McDonalds. Of course the test is skewed! Unless the blood draw was done after a 12 hour fasting state the results could be wrong. I have my blood drawn every year and have never had high cholesterol.
