Portobello Mushrooms burgers, grilled.

Hi,
I did these last night, turned out great, thought I would pass them on.
Bought five of the giant mushroom caps, around four or five inches in diameter. Broke the stems out and put them in a ziplock bag with a couple of tablespoons of EVOO, some balsamic vinegar, and a little Worcestershire. You could also put garlic, Thyme, etc. in. I left them in about an our.

I get the grill (Green Egg) up to about 400F. Put them on dome side up, gills down for about eight minutes. Flipped them for another six minutes or so and took them off.

I put some red bell pepper slices and onions in a skillet, and grilled/roasted them.

Then to build the "burger", I had a bun, slice of provolone, the mushroom cap, and then roasted peppers/onions. I thought they turned out great!

Very low calorie:

Bun: 80 cal
Cheese: 50
Mushroom cap: 30
Peppers/onions: 30 maybe?

I use the 50 cal. a Tbls EVOO, probably used three for all five mushrooms

This brings it to around 200 calories!

you could have a four ounce burger with 92/8 meat and a bun for about the same amount of calories….

    just saying…

Yeh, but then you wouldn't have a portobello mushroom. I was cooking it because that is what the people I was cooking for wanted, not because if was low calorie.
