Adding in 2nd Job Activity?

Hi All,

Im trying to figure out the best way to add in the activity from my 2nd job. Im not sure if I should just go into my goals when I work and change my activity to lightly active or to just add it in as walking slow pace for the hours I do work.

My full time job is a desk job so I have my activity as sedentary because I pretty much just sit all day. My second job is retail in a large warehouse type setting, so I am on my feet almost the entire time and contactly walking and showing people where merchandise is. Im also lifting carpet, tiles, mulch etc but not all the time. I also dont work my second job everyday only some evenings then both weekend days.

Any suggestions on how to log this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I would calculate your time walking and time lifting at your 2nd job and then create an exercise called '2nd job' and add that to your cardio workouts on the days you work maybe?

    I have 3 jobs.
ONe is on my feet and active for 3 hours.
Another is pretty sedentary and the 3rd can be highly active and strenous.

I still put myself down as not active and base my calories that way.
    Cheating, I know.

    but works for me.

I agree with 86sarahb, you could just estimate how long you were on your feet and manually enter as cardio.

Now, if you want to automate things and get more accurate results, you could get one of the fitness trackers that work with MFP and then it will track that for you. I have a fitbit, and it works for me because my activity level is pretty variable. But I know not everyone wants to wear one around all the time. Just another option!

should look into a step counter, im sure theres a calculator somewhere on the net where you can plug that in and get a caloire count. they have devices that count calories burned too but theyre more expensive

Thanks for the advice! I've been putting off getting a fitbit but it sounds like that would be a great option to log my activity. My birthday is coming up so maybe I can talk somone into getting it for me as a gift :)

I have a fitbit and work retail, I LOVE it simply because there are days I'm extremely active and days I'm not so active. It helps me to know how much I'm actually burning throughout the day to figure out what to fit into my diet for that day.
