Big Calorie Burns = More Intake?

Hi everyone! I have a question...

I go on long runs 2-3x a week, burning about 1500 cals per run. The other days, I burn anywhere from 200-500. My daily intake is 1500, usually ends up being around 1600-1800 because I eat some of it back after I burn it. I always listen to my body and eat back the calories if I feel like I need it.

When I burn 1500 cals from running, I'm not supposed to eat ALL of that back, right? I feel like 3000 calories in one day would be really difficult! I usually eat about 300-400 back by having a big pasta dinner or something, but my husband insists I'm not eating enough on those days. I never really tend to go over 2000, no matter what I'm doing. I'm not sure if I should change this up, or keep doing what I'm doing. Help? :)
