I want to know which one is a good brand. I also prefer chocolate flavor. So, if you know any tried, tested brands that are actually good for you, please do let me know.

Look for a brand that has some sort of official, unbiased lab certification, such as USP. There's an alarming amount of Whey Proteins out there that have high amounts of toxic junk in there.
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine-archive/2010/july/food/protein-drinks/what-our-tests-found/index.htm has info on some of the best brands of whey protein.
Ensure you get something as close to "Whey Protein Isolate" as possible. You can always add flavoring (cocoa, vanilla extract, etc), but if you get something with flavoring in it, and you don't like it, you can't take it out. Pure, unflavored Whey Protein is the way I go. The local bulk store has it for about $15/lb. A little pricier than the tubs at walmart but, I think, worth it for the purity of the product. Steer clear of "protein shakes" or "whey gourmet" type products. The closer to pure whey protein it is, the more versatile it is. You can add whey protein to anything (water, milkshakes, oatmeal, spaghetti sauce) but you can't say the same thing about a double mocha chocolate whey shake powder.0 -
BSN has a great selection of protein that tastes great.

I picked up a jar (barrel?) of Ultimate Nutrition chocolate flavor from GNC. Mix it with 9 oz of skim milk for about 22 grams of protein and 190 calories.0

I really like the ones from a store called Max Muscle. They have a website too so you can check out the different flavors as well as nutritional info for each flavor.0

Sean Murphy, what does the plain stuff without the flavoring taste like before you add stuff to it? I like to add a scoop to my oatmeal for the flavor and depending on the kind of berry I put in there, I use either chocolate or vanilla flavor protein...and I was thinking of getting an actual berry flavored powder...is that not good?0

Optimum Nutrition Extreme Milk Chocolate! 24g Protein - 5.5g BCAAs per serving and it tastes delicious especially if you throw in a banana, cinnamon, flax oil and some ice cubes.0

The plain stuff is very neutral in flavor. If you mix it with water, for example, it tastes pretty much like skim milk, ie slightly milky water. there's no sweeteners or flavors at all. Just protein. I like that so that you can use it in anything, not just something sweet.0
