Calorie Reduction as I lose weight

Hello All,
I am down 20.8lbs. When I updated my weight last, I got a pop up about changing my goals. So I clicked yes and my calories were reduced (to 1460 per day from 1570 per day). Can someone explain the science behind this change to me? Is it because I am smaller, I have to eat less to keep losing? My stats are:
Starting weight: 216
Current weight: 195.2
Goal Weight: ??? I just reduce it by 20 each time I hit a goal. At this point I don't have an exact goal weight.
Set to lose 1lb a week

As you lose weight, your BMR goes down and your calorie burn from all activites & exercise goes down. It takes more energy for a 250 pound body to walk a mile in 20 minutes than a 150 pound body, all else being equal.
On the other hand, as you lose weight you may also want to consider decreasing your loss rate. Such as if you started at 2 pounds per week (1000/day deficit) now you might want to change that to 1.5 (750). <--Nevermind that bit, I just saw you have it set for 1 pound.0 -
PP is right, it's based on an estimated reduction in BMR/daily calories burned. IMHO, if the higher calorie limit was still working for you, I'd stick with it until it stopped working, then lower it. Why eat less if you don't have to?0

Thanks for the replies! Just trying to understand all of these changes. I decided to just go with the lower calorie amount for now since I am comfortable with it, but I might try lowering the loss rate (maybe .5lbs per week) when/if it changes to something I am not comfortable with.0
