Help Overcoming Binge Eating

This has been a serious problem for me for a long time now. For the last two years, I'll track my calories during the day then I'll completely lose it at night. This happens maybe 5-6 nights per week. I'll eat anything and everything I can find until I get sick. I've gained around 30 pounds since last July. I've gained a total of 60 pounds in the past two years. The only reason I haven't gained more is because I stay a bit active.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get through this? It's like I lose the ability to even realize what I'm doing. I just "check out" and eat until my stomach hurts. It's feeding my depression and making what's left of my confidence and self-esteem bottom out.

Help in this area is hard to get... it's unfortunate that the best treatment for ED comes from therapy that can take a lifetime for most to deal decently with. I struggle with compulsive overeating. In the past year and a half, my eating has improved as I put in the effort to lose fat. It's been VERY difficult even after all these months. Some days I overeat just a little and feel so emotionally bad that I have to purge (phobia of gaining fat).

This sounds like a serious case of binge eating, an actual disorder. You really need to get professional help. Any tips people could give you here would not work, because you "check out" and will not be conscious enough to reason your way around it.

I read a really good book called Brain Over Binge. Repetitive but helpful.
I tried everything, distractions, drinking water, eating more during the day, different foods. Nothing could stop me from bingeing. I hardly binge now. :)
