New to IIFYM, could use some help

So, I am just getting started with IIFYM and went back through my diary and noticed that my breakfasts (only thing I have looked at so far) are far from fitting my macros. Too much fat, and far too few of the other macros. I could really use some suggestions on breakfast ideas. I am a big believer that it sets the whole day right (or wrong). I am also NOT a breakfast cereal fan - except for granola and oatmeal. Any help is appreciated!

Fruit is a great addition to breakfast. I have a banana everyday as part of mine.

As far as I'm concerned, you really want to hit your macros across the course of the day. I don't worry about individual meals: there are too many variables to try to fine tune each meal.

That said, if you want more carbohydrates you could eat fruit, toast, or bagels. I sometimes have an egg and cheese sandwich on an English muffin. Or you could have a doughnut, depending on your macros and calorie budget.

Since my protien is my priority I always have some with breakfast.

My diary is open (warning contains weird food combinations) but egg whites, 1 whole egg, 1 piece of toast with butter, Lou's bacon (smoked pork loin) or cereal, toast and bacon with milk...

I will as you can see in my diary add lobster, shrimp, pork or even salmon to my eggs.

Now that summer is here I have a tendancy to drink fruit smooties (homemade) so I will add protien shake/powder to it to boost my protien.

It's taken me a good 5 months to get mine to the point where I am happy with mine most of the time....I am always over on fat (it's my chocolate at night normally), under on my carbs and am pretty good with my protien.

I always try to get a high protein breakfast. Usually I do either eggs and sausage (but thats also high in fat) or oatmeal with protein powder and fruit (high in protein and carbs) if i want to save my fats for later in the day. This morning I had just come in from a run and couldn't stomach hot food, so I did a protein shake with protein powder and cottage cheese, and frozen blueberries. Hit 50 g of protein right off.

Also - not sure if you did this yet, but if you're paying attention to your macros a lot of times MFP's automated suggestions are a little off. I suggest going to www.iifym.com and looking at some of their formulations, and then inputting them in MFP under custom goals.

Last thing - if you haven't already, do some research as well so you have an understanding *why* you need x amount of protein / fat / carbs for your goals. I think that makes a huge difference. It's so much better if you have an understanding that this food is helping my body in x ways, instead of doing it because an internet website told you to. :flowerforyou:

I agree I would worry more about just making sure you hit your macros by day's end.

That said why not incorporate a protein bar or shake for breakfast? There are some good low sugar high protein ones out there. Sometimes when I am not in the mood I'll either skip breakfast all together or grab a bar.
