Hey Ppl,

Lot of MFP friends suggest to buy an HRM and I did get mine today. I have got Polar FT7 with chest strap. Now I would like to understand whats a healthy heart rate and what should be my target heart rate while working out and after workouts ?

My heart rate is around 93-97 when I m sitting.... Is it normal ? ( I doubt if its ! ) I just wanna make sure that my HRM is showing me correct figures.

I wont miss to thank you all for all the support so far.... U r fab ! :glasses:

The more fit you are the lower your heart rate will be! As you start an exercise progarm and get more fit those 90's will go down.

I love my HRM wear it for every exercise. Your heart rate will start to go down the more you exercise!! Its 220-your age x 60% then 220-your age x 85%. So you should stay between 60 and 85% to burn the most calories. The Polar HRM gives you a little man for every 10 minutes you are in your heart rate zone so I really try to get 5 to 6 little men for each workout. Have fun.
