How effective is swimming for burning fat? Does it help with gaining muscle?

If you swim properly it helps with increasing your strength (which is very different from muscle gain which you will not do eating on a deficit)
All that is required for weight loss is a calorie deficit.
Swimming increases the calories burned in a day, so as an exercise if you enjoy it, do it. It also depends on the effort put in, someone swimming with a high effort for 50m is going to burn more calories then someone lazily swimming the same distance.
Swimming is an excellent full body, low impact exercise.0 -
