Can muscles get heavier when you exercise more?

I have not been losing any weight for about 2 weeks, in fact, I have gained about 1/2 a pound. I have really increased my exercises since January. I do cardio and pilates. I don't know if my sweet hubbie is saying I am just gaining muscle to be nice or if that can be true? Please someone who has facts or references give me some info on this.

Thanks oh, and by the way, I have tried increasing calories and decreasing and it does not seem to make a difference:sad:
