Researchers in Brazil found that you are six times less likely to die prematurely if you can do this test than if you cant:
Sit cross-legged on the floor. Now try to stand without using your hands, the wall or any furniture.

Actually, I read about a similar study, but you started with a certain score and then lost points when you stood up from sitting on the floor and used an arm or leg. Supposedly, the less you had to use those limbs, the older you would live.0

Yes. I've done a combination of yoga and strength training for years and I think that has paid off.
I'm by no means an expert in either, but just consistently doing them helps a ton.
I'm wondering if this is because many people as they age lose bone mass and a fall due to lack of balance starts a decline into hospitalization/bed-ridden, etc.0 -
We do this all the time in Martial Arts. I'm not thinking it's going to make us all live longer.0

My mom lived to 93 and couldn't do this either. My grandfather lived to 99. My uncle lived to 88. ;-) Also all the longevity tests I've taken tell me I will probably live that long as well.0 -
How do you do it without a leg? Levitate?
If you just stand up, it's easy. It's like when you were a kid listening to story time in school. Some people just seem to be more comfortable than others sitting and standing cross legged. I know many people who can't sit cross legged. I didn't know it was an indicator of anything.0
