I read a success story where this guy lost 84 lbs in 4 months eating only breakfast and 2 fruits for lunch everyday. He also exercised 8km run a day. Is this feasible at all?

Taking away the hype words: this guy lost 84lbs in 4 months by limiting his caloric intake and exercising regularly.
Yes, this strategy works. Whether or not it's safe, I suppose depends on the breakfast. It doesn't sound sustainable, though, and that's a red flag for any strategy.0 -
Search for the IF groups (intermittent fasting). Basically, they eat all their calories within a certain time window. But it still comes down to a calorie deficit (and if the calories are too low, it could be bad; if they're in the right range it works just fine for many people)0

Many people here practice a form of Intermittent Fasting which restricts their eating window to 8 hours (or 6 or 10 or whatever works best for them). That doesn't change the need for a reasonable calorie deficit, logging their food, watching their macros and nutrition, but it works for them and their schedule. If it's something you're interested in I'd really urge you to make sure you do your research and set reasonable and sustainable goals for yourself.0

Is that a lifestyle you want? eat only breakfast, 2 fruits for lunch, and run everyday? If that's not a long term, sustainable lifestyle for you, then its not something you should be considering.
There are no magic pills or potions. There is only consistent, healthy decision making day after day in pursuit of a lifestyle that IS sustainable. That's where the magic happens. That's where success is sustained. But you have to accept that it takes time...but that it WILL be worth it.0 -
I wouldn't consider it feasible. That sounds like an awful way to live for four months.0

It has been pretty easy for me personally and I love it.
What you described that this person did sounds miserable and not what most fasters do.
Example I fast 24 hours at a time. Fast Sunday evening around 7pm to monday at 7pm. 7pm monday to 7pm tuesday I eat my maintenance calories. I do that 3 cycles a week.
That way I get the awesome benefits of fasting AND still get to eat a good meal. Last night after 7pm I had a big, juicy bleu cheese burger and some fries. Today until 7pm I still get around 1000 calories to eat and then I wil fast until 7pm friday evening.
It si very, very, very flexible. Have a big function on a normal fast day? Just change the days.0 -

The guy who wrote the story about it said "short term pain is better than long term pain" and he wanted to lose quick then sustain which i guess it is possible if he has the will to go through this? Honestly with my current keto plan i never feel hungry except after workout...
But in the grand theme of things will IF lose more calories or burn more compared to a similar diet with "same food"?0 -

I like the fasts and after the first 1-2 it has been increasingly easy and the weight is flying off and still eating the great food I love0 -
I just started this week doing a 5:2 and 16:8 at the same time. I upped my calorie goal from a 1000 calorie deficit to under a 500 deficit. It's only been 1 week, but already I'm eating more and burning more fat. I can't see anything wrong with that.0
