I've been told even though oily fish is great for you, you should have it no more than twice a week (i've had a fillet for dinner 3 nights in a row oops) i don't usually eat that much but i don't understand why it's bad to have it more often?

I don't get much fat in my diet, usually about 20 grams a day. Lately i'm trying to get more by eating nuts and such but if the fish fits in with my macros what does it matter if i eat it more than twice a week?

Wait what?! Did your doctor tell you "it's bad to have it more often"?

I have been eating fish practically 3 or 4 times a week for last 35 years and I take Fish Oil tablet (above and beyond) everyday for last 4 or 5 years.

How do you feel with your 3 night in a row fish dinner?

It's working great for me so far.

I feel great, it keeps me nicely full and i just love it. Fish is by far my favourite food!

And nope no doctor, just word of mouth from friends and family. I know i should take what i hear from peers with a pinch of salt but i always like to double check other people's opinions.

I'd be interested to hear people's input on this one, as I eat a tin of mackerel fillets nearly every day!

Look up the fish you're eating and see if there is a mercury issue. Normally fatty ones test low, especially salmon. As long as that's cool, you're good to go.

Assuming you're american, this has a nice list: http://americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/fishmercury.htm (weekly recommendations are for pregnant women though).

The concern may be coming from the mercury content of the fish. Different fish have different levels. I've heard 3-4 times a week is typically not an issue.

Gotcha ..... I agree it maybe their mercury concern.

    To clarify my intake

I eat Salmon and Sardines. Followed by Catfish and Tilapia and Shrimp but they are once a month deal.

My fish oil is Nature Made Fish Oil which says purified to remove Mercury.

    Hope this helps.
