I want a pushbike Help please UK

I wanted a pushbike for a while but every time I go to look they are sooooo expensive!! I think I've figured I need a hybrid bike? Really looking at what brands you recommend and where to buy from (I live on an island so please no shops without websites) also does cheap really mean cheap?
