Is too much Fiber bad?

Once in a while, I eat more than my allotted amount of Fiber. I know it's good for you, but is there such a thing as "too much"?

Define "too much." Too much of anything is not good... but fiber, it's okay to be in the red... as long as you're consuming a lot of water. :-)0

I actually researched this because I was having a similar issue and, technically, there is such thing as "too much" fiber, but you have to eat a LOT to have "too much" and MFP really doesn't give you a very big alottment. I manually increased mine. You shouldn't really go over 50 because it can possibly interfere with vitamin absorption, but below that should be fine (I'm usually between 35-40).0

MFP fibre is set at the minimum fibre you should be eating. It is the 1 thing that you should be aiming to keep in the red.0

its VERY hard to eat what is actually considered too much fiber. the only thing that can happen from eating more than MFP sets for you is you may have to poo a lot. gross i know, but true! you're fine.0

I typically eat a VERY high fiver diet (75+ grams a day) but not on purpose - I just seem to love foods that are high in fiber and always have. I know that I am bloated a lot, even though I drink 20+ glasses of water a day and keep my sodium at least under 2000 (trying for under 1500 but don't make it that often). I sometimes wondered if I don't overdo it. And not to be gross but it can take a day or two for things to ahem..."pass' for me when my fiber is so high. Seems opposite of how it should be?? Then if I slip and have a really fatty meal (even if it's healthier fats - just the fats themselves it seems) my waist is smaller. Does that sound like anything anyone has experienced?
So, I don't think too much fiber is a problem for too many and I really think you should be aiming to go over the MFP guidelines, they seem kind of low to me (and from what I've read and learned).0 -
