I need help. I need a good pair of tennis shoes. I walk mainly but am trying to incorporate jogging and hopefully on to running into my routine. I am currently 252 lbs. so I need a good support shoe. All suggestions welcome. Thank you in advance.

Go to a shoe store that specializes in running shoes. Get your gait checked and try out a few pairs that they recommend that are fitted to your needs.0

"Tennis shoes" is just another word for "sneakers" "athletic shoes""gym shoes" etc. to a lot of people. That's what we always called them growing up :-)
But I do agree. Go to a running store, get fitted. It seems to best way to prevent injury from running/jogging. They pointed out things I never would have looked for in a shoe, and I love the pair of shoes I have.0 -

I agree with this ^
Where I live, lots of people will use "tennis shoes" to mean ANY type of sneakers, running shoes, etc.
Take my advice with a grain of salt because I do not run and rarely jog...but for lots and lots of walking at around 250-300 lb to current (184 lb) I have been a MAJOR fan of New Balance. I replace mine pretty often but when I got Asics, even though they were comfortable for awhile I noticed the wear out feeling came WAY sooner than it does with NBs.
Definitely running stores are the go-to place though for anyone who is planning to get serious about running. Might cost a bit more (or a lot more) but sounds worth it from all accounts I've heard. Good luck, OP!0 -
thanks a lot everyone and I guess I am off to get fitted this weekend..
Yes I do call all brands....walking, running, training shoes=tennis shoes. Just the way I was raised I guess..0 -
A friends dad recommend these to me. Saucony Cohesion 7. I was looking at Brooks and other big name brands. I found the Saucony at Zappos for 49 on sale and that sold it for me. I did read reviews and most runners like the Saucony brand. Bought two pairs for Mother's Day and my feet are feeling great! I walk mostly but jog a bit. Working my way up to running. They are very comfortable and breathable.
