Ugh... fruit.

I wish people would stop advising other people to not eat as much fruit.

Fruit is healthy, fruit is GOOD, fruit is natural sweetness, and good carbs for your body.

What are people supposed to do if they're craving something sweet and you're telling them "don't eat so much fruit"?

No food is the enemy but some foods can be heroes. Yeah I agree to eat more vegetables than fruits just out of pure logistics but ... don't be telling people they're having too much fruit unless it's putting their calories overboard.

The macros aren't as important with all naturals.

Personally, I eat fruit daily. But I do think macros are very important. That's just my opinion

Macros are important, but I agree that fruit isn't a problem. I give everyone the same advice on here, if you are counting calories, macros, and fiber (and hitting them) then you do not need to count sugar at all.

I feel the same way. I find it funny that we are told so often down processed shakes but to avoid healthy fruits.

Totally agree with this! The way I look at it is that sugar is already counted in my carb macro. I completely removed it from tracking view.

I just went looking for a picture of, like, an ear of corn punching a strawberry in the eye, and I couldn't find one. What the hell, internet, I thought you were supposed to have everything.

I had a nurse tell me that bananas make you fat, you should drink OJ for potassium. Um, what? I lost 40lbs eating bananas regularly. Yesterday, I ate 2 bananas and an apple. I did a practice triathlon, so the fruit was part of my fuel:)

Fruit is good for you, but like everything else, you have to keep it within your calorie goal, it's good for you, but if you're eating 15 bananas a day and exceeding your calorie goal then at this point it isn't good for you.

Very few foods are bad for you, it's all about portion size and keeping within the calorie goal you have set for yourself!!

I eat lots of fruit. I find the days I don't have much fruit, I start craving chocolate etc. I've had some people randomly message me and tell me (not even suggest, tell!) to cut down on the fruit because of the sugar. I just ignore it.

the medical community says carbs are the only fuel source our brains use. That alone is enough reason not to give them up. They also tell us carbs are the body's preferred energy source. I know when I go too low on my carbs, my muscles get flat and my energy takes a dive. Simple sugar is the first thing your body burns and burns it pretty quickly. The problems come when people eat way too much of it. No one macro nutrient is responsible for obesity. It's all about total amount.

I've never been told to avoid fruits. I have been told to limit them to 2-4 servings/day. Two sources were nutritionists who noted that most who were obese were diabetic, pred-iabetic, or sugar-addicted. The Food Pyramid also carried this advice. I eat about that normally anyway, so I never worried about it.

I do often hear to EAT my fruits instead of DRINK them. I started drinking orange juice a month ago. While I agree eating your fruits brings more fiber into the picture, I can't overlook that 4oz of fresh OJ is tasty, inexpensive, available in an instant, and contains 100% of my family's Vitamin C. Good stuff. :)

I eat lots of veggies .. and fruit. I am over my sugar macro every day .. but I don't care as most of my "sugar" comes from fruit .. aka natural sources.

As long as it is not man made ... I don't really count it as being bad-ish. And .. really I think it is just fine.

That would be funny but a Strawberry is not technically a fruit:tongue:

I think the fruit-nazis are the people who are just afraid of carbs and sugar in general, because they're so focused on burning fat than burning fuel..

I couldn't live without my daily banana. Lol.

And corn is a grain, not a veggie.

I ignore the "don't eat..." crowd when it comes down to a whole natural food or food group. Unless someone has an allergy or serious condition such as celiac it's ridiculous to me to demonize something that comes out of the earth naturally. Bananas and avocados make excellent frozen ice cream substitutes (yes I really said avocado).

The best nutrition advice I've ever seen is to stop eating fake, processed foods even those that have labels saying "all natural". Make your own juice, take the time to cook or prepare things yourself, and eat mindfully (slowly).

You should eat 5 servings of Fruit (notice Fruit is first in that statement) and Veggies a day. The only people who need to watch out for the sugar in Fruit are diabetics, and even Fruit is a natural sugar and is converted more easily than processed sugars.

Everything in moderation unless you have a health concern that does not allow the consumption of sugars.
