Cardio & asthma

Cardio this week has been driving my heart rate sky high (per HRM) and I have to go at a much lower resistance to keep it in my normal range. I'm guessing it's because my allergies have kicked in and aggravated my asthma, since I have been wearing my HRM for about 5 months but I haven't gone through this before. So my question is, when will my lungs/heart adjust or is it basically like starting all over again?

I have a friend who does contact kick boxing that has asthma. She got guidelines for our sport from her respiratory therapist.0

Yeah, my asthma MD told me he wanted me to use my inhaler about 30 minutes prior to any workout. I'd check with your MD.0

I also have asthma, and I use my inhaler 15-20 minutes before I go jogging. I haven't had any problems since I started doing that.0

I use my inhaler before exercise and also keep it handy during exercise because I sometimes feel an attack start during vigorous exercise.
So your heart rate is high but you're not having breathing issues?0 -
Y R U trying to keep your heart rate in a particular range?0

I am having breathing issues as I can't seem to draw a deep breathe, and although I carry my inhaler in my purse I never think about taking it into the gym since it's been almost 8 months without any asthma problems. I guess I'm out of habit. I will start to bring it now that my asthma is acting up and use about 20 minutes before I head in. My doctor just sent a prescription for Qvar which I used several years ago but I know that takes time to take affect.0

Mine comes and goes. I have found though that, over time, I have far fewer attacks when I'm running regularly than when I'm slacking. Just keep at it.0
