Zombies, Run!

Who uses this app? What are your thoughts/experiences? It looks kind of interesting. Just curious of the MFP users thoughts before I give it a shot. Thanks.

Try the search button on the forums. I'm thinking about downloading the app and read through a thread about it just a few weeks ago and there were a lot of posts, mostly positive. If I remember right, there's even a Zombie's Run group.

    There is a group - it's here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/6558-zombies-run-group

And the app is a lot of fun. I'm still on Season 1, and they've just released Season 3! I try to mix it into my running once a week, but it doesn't always happen. But the story is fun to listen to, and there's nothing like having the sound of zombies breathing and groaning in your earphones to make you run faster!

Basically the story unfolds with each mission. You have a radio controller person who talks as if you're running a mission, and he has radio contact and a camera view, so tells you when zombies are approaching, or if you're almost to your destination, etc - makes it all very realistic. In between, a song plays (your own playlist), and during the songs you'll hear the computer voice warn you of approaching zombies and how many meters out they are - starts at 50 meters, complete with a radar type beep that goes more rapidly as the zoms close in. You have to run 20% faster for 60 seconds (I think?) than the pace you've been going - so it's a real hustle sometimes to out run them, and such a relief when the computer voice tells you "zombies evaded"!

I usually set mine for about a 30 minute mission, and usually 2 or 3 zombie chases per mission. If you're still running when the mission is complete, it switches to radio mode, and you get two DJs who talk and exchange witty banter in between your songs....and the zombies still chase ya.

It's a great way to get some intervals in your running while listening to a story - keeps things interesting! They often have sales, not sure if the big drop in price they had with the latest release is still going on, but they do sometimes drop it to as much as 75% off.

I just downloaded the Zombies, Run 5K and plan to start it this week (if the cold I have coming on doesn't eventuate) - it sounds very fun and has gotten great reviews!

I love this app! I'm using it for every run at the moment, not so much for gps or running stats (I use nike+ watch for that), but just for the stories and game element. I have just finished season 1 and will start the new season on my next run.

I have had the zombie chases turned off until now but I may be brave enough to try it out soon

I'm doing the 5k one at the moment, and I LOVE it. Best few bucks I've spent. I hate running, but I look forward to the next 'episode'. Highly recommend it.
