Diary of a Compulsive Overeater - Day 21

Good morning... the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it’s a beautiful day. for me, this is the first day of spring... i got out the weed-whacker and shaved my legs, pulled out the Capri pants and dress sandals, pulled my hair up into a flirty, curly do, put in earrings and wore lip gloss and a sexy, low cut top. I’m feeling good today, and 3 seconds into the door at work and i’ve already gotten a compliment on how cute i look.

Yesterday went well. I fought the demons yesterday and i fought them hard. They won a small war on the way home from work, and i got a pizza sub and a pop... i normally would have gotten 2, big bag of chips and chocolate of some kind. I had this at about 5:30pm, and by 7 i was in another war with myself about walking next door to DQ and having a major pig out. I’m so proud of myself that i didn’t. I actually got all dressed and ready to go, and sat down and fought with myself for over an hour. Then i got into my pj’s and commenced thinking about it for the next hour or so. “i wanna go”. Don’t go. “but i wanna!” don’t go. “i love French fries”. you’ll hate yourself tomorrow. And here is tomorrow and i am the complete opposite of hating myself. I didn’t have the best day, but i did win a small victory over the evil voice in my head so that makes me happy. Here is how it all went:

Breakfast:
1 blueberry muffin
1.5 cups apple juice
1 banana

Snack:
1 small yogurt
Mini carrots
22 almonds

Lunch:
1 cup w/w rotini with tomato sauce and 1 crumbled Italian sausage
Tossed salad with tomatoes, cukes and homemade olive oil vinaigrette

Snack:
1 apple sauce
1 80cal natural cheese stick
1 wasa cracker

Snack:
1 pizza sub
1 small bag of chips
1 diet pop

Supper:
1 grilled chicken wrap with avocado and little bit of sour cream, little bit of cheese, tomatoes and sprouts.

So all in all a good day for me! Yay! i know i ate the pizza sub, but seriously, i am not even mad about that. i’m feeling really happy today. it’s my mom’s birthday, and we are all going out for Chinese food, but that’s no worry because i usually get wonton soup, beef and broccoli and bbq pork. Nothing deep fried, no rice or noodles, no not toooo terrible. We are also going golfing tonight, so that should burn some calories (i have to figure out how many) here is the plan for today:

Breakfast:
1 breakfast bagel with 1 strip bacon, sprinkle cheese, homemade mayo and tomato
1 cup apple juice
½ big cookie

Snack:
½ big cookie
1 banana
Mini carrots

Lunch:
1 cup w/w rotini with tomato sauce and 1 crumbled Italian sausage
Tossed salad with tomatoes, cukes and homemade olive oil vinaigrette
1 avocado

Snack:
1 yogurt
22 almonds

Snack:
Banana

Supper:
Chinese food.

I’m in meetings all morning, hence the quick breakfast and cookie snack, but it stops me from having muffins with butter, Danishes, donuts, coffee with cream and sugar etc. it’s a gluten free cookie with nuts, seed and raisins. Not fantastic, but not horrible either. So here is to today. it’s lovely out, so i may go for a walk at lunch, or at the least, go sit outside and enjoy the weather. I feel 100 times happier than yesterday...the only explanation I can think of is the weather and not binging last night. Small things, but they definitely made a difference in how i feel. Thanks!

  • Good for you! These small battles will add up over time and before you know it, you'll win the war. Don't get discouraged with yourself. Keep up the positive attitude!!

    Wow, good job, you won the takeout battle!!! Keep it up, I know it's hard especially when it's yelling out your name, but when you accomplish something like that it makes you feel so proud!!! Keep it up!:flowerforyou:

    I can't imagine being next door to a DQ and being able to resist. Well, now that I have been doing this so long I could but not before I started this new lifestyle! Congrats on the great willpower! When I was pregnant, all I wanted was the banana cream pie blizzard!!! Bad bad Tam!

    as i said before the WORST is opening up the windows for fresh air and the smell of charbroiled hamburgers wafting through the living room. seriously. lol.
