Loose more calories when new to exercise?

Do you loose more calories (because your body/heart is unused to exercise) when you first start exercising and are very unfit?
Just wondering because I did 40mins fo swimming today for the first time in years and I feel really sore. Guess it will get better with time!

Soreness has no correlation to either the quality of the workout or the calories expended. It just means you did something new. Actually, an unfit person normally burns fewer calories because they cannot push themselves that hard.
That's not really important. What's important is that you got up and started a workout program. You may have overdone it the first day a little, but don't let this soreness stop you. It will clear up soon.0 -
