Yes. While I have less to lose than many people here, and lost it once about 7 years ago, I was very skeptical of my ability to do so again. When I started MFP in June of this year, I really didn't have high expectations. I thought I'd try it, but didn't think I'd get results. I was wrong. I am not at my goal weight yet, but I expect to reach it in January. Now I know I can get results, I can do it. So can you. Don't worry about the doubts. Just do the work that is necessary, get your exercise, and stick to your eating plan. The results will take care of themselves, whether you're doubtful or not.
Good luck to you. You CAN do this.

I think I was kinda like that in the beginning. I used to weigh 260lbs and am down to 190 now. I still have about 50lbs to go, but I think what helped me along the way was setting little mini goals like 3 and 5 lb losses. It is those little loses that add up to the big ones. Then before you even know it, you are at goal!

I found a piece of paper that I wrote out back in January on the goals that I wanted to accomplish this year. I was surprised when I looked at it. I am about 15lbs away from what I wanted to accomplish this year and there is still 2 months left! I remember when I wrote out the numbers that I thought the goals were so far off that I would never get there. I didn't think it was possible to get my body back to those lower numbers. Now that I am getting closer, it seems that I have changed my mind frame and realize that I will get there someday soon!

I haven't reached my goal yet, but am almost halfway there. I thought that a lot in the beginning but then realized that type of thinking was what had allowed me to get to 293lbs in the first place. I figure just do it, either I suceed or I don't but atleast I know that I gave it my all. Keep at it, the only way you can truly fail is to not try at all. :drinker:

I never thought level one of Jillian Michaels 30 day shred would be anything but torture for me, I can do it without even thinking now.

I never thought I would run a 5k in only one month and be able to breath after, I did.

My weigh, meh, its what it is, but the other accomplishments are awesome.

I can only speak for myself, but I know I had significant doubts. I had been increasing in weight for about the last 10 years or so, and I thought, "It will take me that long or longer to decrease my weight - and then when I get there - then what?" I made the decision to just "START." I thought, "heck, I don't know where I will end up, or how long it will take, but I need to do this because the pain in my knees, back, etc is just getting worse - I need to just start." So, here I am exactly 4 months later with a weight reduction of about 43 lbs. I continue to work towards my goal - but now I truly believe, am convinced, that I can do this. I still worry about whether I will be able to maintain a healthy weight after I have reached my goal, but I am pretty sure that I will be able to manage it. I plan on continuing with MFP to monitor my caloric intake, exercise/calorie burn, and the weight. I think that by doing that, I will continue to stay on track because I will have a level of accountability.

ABSOLUTELY!!! I joined this site about a year and a half ago. Frankly, for the first year I lost a few pounds, then gained them back, then lost them--you get the picture.

About 6 months ago, I started counseling--specifically for my eating issues. At the second session my counselor asked me my greatest fear about losing weight. I said, "That I'll fail and be back to asking what's the matter with me." He said, "You've just said that you think there might be something the matter with you that is keeping you from losing weight. Is that true? Look at it as a scientific hypothesis and put all the reasons it might be true in one column and all the reasons it might not be true in another. Have you ever lost weight before? " Well, of course I had. Then he told me that I was believing a lie about myself. It was one of my core beliefs and I never examined it!

I can do this, and so can you. It won't always be easy, and you will need to say "no" when you want to say "yes", but it is doable. Believe in yourself and it will happen. You are worth it.

When I got started I really didn't think I would ever lose as much as I have already. I thought I could lose some, but it's been 10 years since I've been this weight and I'm in my 40s now and let me tell you I've seen things change in my body during the last 10 years. I've also had 2 babies since then, so I really didn't think I would ever get to this weight again. But, I've now lost more than 45 lbs! And, I now know that I absolutely can have the body I want! I think I will actually end up weighing less than I ever thought I would want to weigh, but again, I think my body has changed a lot. I'm going for about another 15 lbs, but I'm also adding a lot of muscle right now, so who knows exactly how much I will weigh when I'm done.

For me, the key has been being consistent and logging absolutely everything I eat and drink. I also got a heart rate monitor to get more accurate numbers for my calories burned. We all know that to lose weight all you have to do is burn more calories than you consume, but putting that into action is a little harder. For me, when I found this site, I was absolutely determined to do it right, and to not go over my calorie goals at all. I've been here 105 days and I have not gone over that goal once.

YOU CAN DO IT! Just get in the exercise, find healthy foods that satisfy you and log everything! Be consistent and be accountable to yourself! You will see the changes!!!

I have been trying for a very long time to lose weight and not been successful and felt that it was probably impossible given my age and physical ailments.

MFP has been a huge factor in my being able to at least partially succeed and I am not seeing right now that I won't be able to continue to my goal and maybe beyond.
