so, do you think, it's only 10, 20 or 50 pounds, its not *that* much?

here's my motivation to you for Motivation Monday: go to the grocery store, WalMart, or Sam's Club. go to the pet supply area first. pick up a bag that comes closest to your weight gain or loss. then carry that around the store for 30 minutes while you look for whatever you want to look at. do NOT put the bag down. you have to carry it everywhere for 30-60 minutes.

i picked up a 25 pound bag this morning and was AMAZED at how much 25 pounds felt like. i have lost that much since July 12th. and i thought i felt good then since i was down over 25 pounds in 2.5 years.

25 pounds to me today for just 30 seconds was a bunch of weight. i am sooo very thankful for my recent success in my healthier living. you too CAN do it!

cheering you on!!!

  • It is amazing to do that. I buy my cat litter in 35 lb pails and carry 2 of them from the apartment garage across a courtyard and the up 3 flights of stairs. That was when I lost 70 lbs, I gained some back unfortunately. I do remember that stark reminder of just how much weight it is though. Amazing really.

I did that with bags of potatos and only carried them for 5 minutes, my back was killing me and my arms hurt. Incredible to think that we were living our lives every day carrying that extra weight around. I can't wait till I have to pick up a bag of concrete to equal my weight loss. :drinker:

That is a great way to look at reality! I can visualize it now...come Christmas time... you will see all these people carrying around potatoes and kitty littler while they shop!! And the shelves will be empty..but once you head to the front....there will be stacks at the customer service!!! lol

    But seriously...great motivation!

    all the best everyone!
  • My 33 pound, almost 3-year-old likes to make me pick him up and carry him around when we are out (yeah, we are working on THAT! lol) and its SUCH a relief to be able to put those 33 pounds back down, as much as i love him :) The thought of carrying those 33(+) pounds around 24/7 is mind boggling, yet i did it every day, not so long ago! ..... And for what its worth, i still look in the mirror and feel like a fat person, even WITH that knowledge. Problem areas are still problem areas, just smaller ;)

What an inspiration! I thought 25 lbs really wasn't that much to lose, but thinking in those terms it makes it worthwhile! Thanks for sharing!
