I'm really trying to figure out why and if it's a bad thing. I've read 2 to 3 lbs a week is healthy loss and I don't want to lose muscle.
I've been trying to get healthier for a couple months. had a couple setbacks, but the weight was slowly coming off. Then, this week, I started drinking green tea for the antioxidants and to get off of coffee. I've always enjoyed the taste so sometimes I'll have a couple cups. Coincidentally, this week, I've lost over a pound a day which I didn't think was possible without losing muscle. MFP has me at 1200 calories a day which I do pretty good with. I haven't been able to exercise because of a pulled muscle. So has anyone had significant weight decrease while drinking green tea? That's pretty much the only thing I've changed that I can think of.

You wouldnt have lost 6 lbs of fat/muscle in that time frame. Most likely more water weight as you probably drank more Tea than coffee, and depending on what you put in your coffee the tae was most likely lower in calories

No, it's not the green tea.

You stopped training so that will cause you to retain less water. So basically the answer, water weight.

This is the answer to your question, just thought I'd emphasize the rightness of it. Green tea is a nice, beverage with a little bit of a heath benefit but it is not weight loss magic. Continue drinking the tea but don't expect your losses to continue as you've recently seen.

I haven't been able to exercise because of a pulled muscle.

Exercise causes your body to retain fluids for muscle repair...you aren't exercising and thus your body is releasing the water that it doesn't need.

I take training breaks every so often to let my body heal up and I will typically lose about 3-5 Lbs of water in a week when I do that.

Water loss. With no exercise, the body is storing less water and glycogen in the cells. Could be too that you may have increased your fluid intake if you're drinking more tea than you did coffee.
