feeling hungry all the time

I'm Chrissy I just started a "lifestyle change". This is different than the diet I was on. I am considering bariatric surgery. The issue is I am eating 1740 calories a day. I'm trying to cut down on bread and pastas. I am also trying to eat more protein.

That being said, I still feel hungry. Most of the times in the afternoons. My stomach growls and I feel light headed. I will mention this to my nutritionist next month. I just need some suggestions in the meantime. I don't want to gain any weight.

One friend suggested I add a nice salad for dinner. I did this for a few days and I did not feel full at all.

Thanks
chrissy

Make your diary open so we can assess what you've been eating. Feeling full is all about using your available calories on satiating choices. 100 calories of broccoli will make most people feel more full then 100 calories of candy. Also, many people find protein to be quite satiating. How much protein are you getting a day?

Your ticker suggests you have a lot of weight to lose. How did you get your calorie allowance? With so much to lose I'm willing to bet you could eat 2000 calories and still lose a decent amount of weight

I snack constantly throughout the day. My favorite is clementines. I'll eat 5 a day or so in between meals, just enough to keep me going, to make my tummy hush. If you're just starting out and you need something with a little more staying power, consider almonds, or seeds. My cube mate has a trail mix of craisins and sunflower seeds that I would murder for.

Protein, fat, and fiber all help you stay full longer.

Some people stay full with low fat protein.....me, I need something more. You might have to play around and find the right mix for you.

I try to get more than one of those things with meals and snacks.

My "secret" protein and produce each time I eat. Protein cause it keeps you full longer, and produce cause it fills up more of your stomach. So, cheese and an apple, a big salad and tuna, veggies and chicken.
