Going at it as a family

I have been on MFP since 4/15/14 and am taking the lead in setting an example for the entire family after my wife had the gastric sleeve procedure. She is on MFP and has lost close to 60 lbs on her way to her goal of 120-130 (5'2"). Even my 14 y/o daughter has lost 20 lbs (in last 90 days) with 40 more to go.
I am going with a diet that averages about 1000-1200 calories and have lost 13 lbs. since. My progress is being monitored each week by our staff nurse (I work for the government) and my PCP. I try to eat well with my proteins and avoid crazy carbs and excess calories. We do not eat low fat or fat free foods, but strictly monitor our portion sizes. By calorie count, it may seem that I "could" eat more, but I am not inclined to do so by hunger.
A diet need not be temporary, but a lifestyle change.
