Hi
I started the 5x5 fitness programme today. I feel great but so tired. My question is, how long should I continue the programme for and what strength training should I move onto after that??
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Continue with the program until you hit a strength plateau and can no longer see linear increases in weight, then switch to something like Wendler 5/3/1.0

12 weeks is often quoted but keep going until you're no longer progressing, then move to an intermediate plan, such as 3x5.0

Realistically... until the end!
12 weeks will give you the weights you are supposed to lift at the end of it - if you hit a plateau, get over the plateau... there are several ways to get over a plateau - it will prolong your 12 weeks but you will have reached the 5x5 goal (unless you have set yourself another goal).
After 5x5 it is up to you - you can continue strength training and move on to an intermediate lifting program or else shift into volume - with the technique you will have picked up you could also consider crossfit.
By the end of 5x5 you will have packed up a considerable amount of strength and hopefully technique to be flexible with what you want!0 -
Thanks all for your advice
I will look into Wendler 5-3-1 thanks
