    I stopped buying candies a few years back. I buy little bags of Animal Crackers (60 calories per bag) or Halloween shaped Pretzel snacks (50 calories per bag.) You'd be suprised to see how happy some kids are to get something OTHER than candy.

    There is a dentist in my city that does a candy buy-back every year. For every pound of candy that the kids bring in, he gives them $1 and donates $1 to the Boys & Girls Club. He has incentives for bringing in more than 3 pounds of candy, and a prize for the kid who brings in the most amount of candy.
